ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- In New York’s highest court, a legal battle could determine the state’s congressional representation yet again. Last year, the court ruled that Democrats didn’t follow the proper process in drawing districts. Ultimately court drawn maps led to Republicans gaining seats in the House of Representatives. MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Saturday, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its pet cemetery. Established on October 21, 1948, the cemetery has become inactive in recent years, but now the humane society has begun a restoration project to bring the cemetery back to life. "Sadly, a lot of our records were lost over the years, so I've been going through old newspapers and searching through archives for anything we can find about the cemetery," said Stevenson. "One day, an article fell into my lap that mentioned the opening of the cemetery. It is amazing how much information we can find in the community."Work has already begun to locate stones and clear out overgrown vegetation. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday kept a Missouri law on hold that bars police from enforcing federal gun laws, rejecting an emergency appeal from the state.The 2019 law was ruled unconstitutional by a district judge but allowed to remain in effect. A federal appeals court then blocked enforcement while the state appeals the district court ruling. MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - A man accused in his girlfriend's death Thursday at a Maryland Heights motel is now behind bars. Prosecutors have charged Keno R. King, 47, of Berkeley, with one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action in connection with the case. Feds bust suspected drug ring in St. Louis area The Maryland Heights Police Department has identified Taniesha M. Givens, 44, of Berkeley, as the victim. Police say Givens was found deceased around 10:30 a.m. Thursday in one of the rooms of a motel in the 12000 block of Dorsett Road. Police have not yet disclosed Givens' cause of death, but note there is physical evidence linking King to his girlfriend's death. Investigators reviewed surveillance video and determined that King left the hotel and took off in the Givens' vehicle at some point on Thursday. King was found in Givens' vehicle several hours later in the 6900 block of North Hanley Road. (WOOD) — Just north of Rockford sits Rosie's Diner, a decades-old icon that has sat empty for more than a decade, "no trespassing" signs in the window.It started the beginning of a new chapter Friday as crews removed the "Rosie's" sign. It was the first step of a journey to Missouri, where the diner will be brought back to life and reopened.Rosie's Diner has a long history. First opened in the 1940s in New Jersey, the diner was originally called Silver Dollar. ST. LOUIS - A Ferguson man will spend decades behind bars in connection with a man's shooting death last year in St. Louis, which followed a heated argument. A judge has sentenced DeAndre Wilkes, 44, to 30 years in prison. Wilkes was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action charges last month. Investigators say Clifton Cooley Jr., 32, was shot in the neck during an argument at a home in the 3800 block of Eichelberger Street in the Bevo Mill neighborhood.
