Artscape has received a temporary reprieve from receivership. Mayor Olivia Chow says thanks to TD Bank and the city, the non-profit’s move into bankruptcy has been delayed for at least 30 days. Chow says she’s convened a working group that includes city staff, philanthropic, business and community leaders to come up with a sustainable solution. “Artscape is a vital source of affordable living and working space for Toronto’s arts and culture community. Our city needs more, not less, affordable spaces for artists,” the mayor said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. For more than three decades Artscape has provided residences and creative spaces for artists, along with event venues. Earlier in the week the non-profit said it had taken on additional debt in the last few years in order to expand its offerings to support the creative and the artist community. However, it said that the level of debt payments was “not sustainable” and it commenced a fina...AEW’s Tony Khan recalls WGN wrestling show ahead of return to United Center

ATHENS, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - During September, a few waterfowl species, like Blue-winged Teal, will begin to make their way into the Bayou State for the winter, along with tons of shorebirds. Most migratory bird species that nest in the state will begin their yearly fall exodus, with most heading to Central or South America. And one of the coolest fall migration phenomena we can experience in Louisiana is that of the Chimney Swift, Chaetura pelagica. The Chimney Swift is a bird many of you know. Commonly but erroneously referred to in the South as "Chimney Sweeps," Chimney Swifts do live in chimneys. There, they spy on you and drink your milk when you leave the house. But you might ask, "What did they do before chimneys?" And were they just called "Swifts" then? Regardless of what they were then, they nested in hollow trees or caves, but they soon began adapting to chimneys after European colonization. We know of chimney nesting records as early as 1672, and by the 1790s, Chimney Swifts...New Texas Law forces DUI offenders to pay child support for victims' orphaned kids

Twins star Byron Buxton was removed early from a rehab game with the Triple-A Saints for precautionary reasons Friday with a sore knee.Buxton played the outfield for the first time in more than a year on Wednesday, spending seven innings in center field. Thursday was a scheduled day off and Friday he got two at-bats before exiting the game.Though he is on the injured list for a hamstring strain suffered at the beginning of last month, Buxton has been kept out of the outfield because of the right knee that flared up.Prior to Wednesday, he had spent the whole season serving as the Twins’ designated hitter as a result of the issue, which impacted him last season to the point where he had a season-ending surgery. The Twins had hoped to bring him back from the injured list as an occasional center fielder, getting him into the outfield a couple times a week. But that plan is dependent on his response to how he felt after playing it while rehabbing with the Saints.“Have to take it one...Latest news
