Darren Helm’s reintegration to the Avalanche lineup will be handled with caution, but his increase in minutes and intensity won’t be gradual. In fact, it only took two periods to end up embroiled in a controversial penalty involving Sidney Crosby that left Helm and the Avs fuming.Helm’s victory lap season hasn’t gone as planned. How could you possibly find an impartial jury? What’s below are answers to some of the questions we’ve been getting — versions of these were emailed in by subscribers of the What Matters newsletter — about the possible indictment of former President Donald Trump. He’s involved in four different criminal investigations by three different levels of government — the Manhattan district attorney; the Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney; and the Department of Justice. These questions are mostly concerned with Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s potential indictment of Trump over a hush-money payment scheme, but many could apply to each investigation. The most-asked question is also the easiest to answer. Can Trump still run for president if he is indicted or convicted?Yes, absolutely.“Nothing ...Gabe Kapler’s ‘most encouraging’ part of SF Giants’ spring training is also one of their biggest questions

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — There is no such thing as too much starting pitching, the old adage goes. But, sitting in his manager’s office a week before Opening Day, Gabe Kapler on Wednesday was still working to put together a puzzle that had too many pieces.“It’s a little bit of a puzzle early on,” the Giants manager said of his starting rotation, which has seven capable candidates for only five — or, in the first week of the season, four — spots. The moves provided some insurance in case Anthony DeSclafani’s a...Pentagon: Budget readies US for possible China confrontation

Pointing to increases in new technology, such as hypersonics, Austin said the budget proposes to spend more than $9 billion, a 40% increase over last year, to build up military capabilities in the Pacific and defend allies. The testimony comes on the heels of Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow, amid concerns China will step up its support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine and increasingly threaten the West.China’s act...Latest news
