3 critically injured after driver crashes into CTA bus shelter CHICAGO — Seven people were injured, three critically, Sunday after a driver crashed into a bus shelter during a crash with another car, according to the Chicago Fire Department.The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. near West 16th Street and South Kedzie Avenue. 7 people shot in overnight shootings on city’s South Side Two cars got into a crash and one car went through the bus shelter, according to the fire department.Three people, including a CTA employee, were critically injured and taken to hospitals, according to the fire department.Four other people were injured and refused treatment at the scene. Additional details haven't been released at this time.

Teen dead after being trapped under sand at Outer Banks beach FRISCO, N.C. (WNCT) -- A 17-year-old boy died Saturday after being trapped under several feet of sand at a beach in Frisco, North Carolina, according to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.Officials said law enforcement rangers responded at around 2 p.m. to a 911 call of a male teen trapped in a hole. The hole was dug in a back-dune area behind the primary dune and could not be seen from the beachfront, a press release from the park explained.Family and friends were looking for the teen, who was only identified as being from Chesapeake, Virginia, and found him buried under several feet of sand.Officials said the teen became buried after part of the adjacent dune collapsed into the hole. Ventura County man gets 34 years to life for child molestation A 27-year-old man from Santa Paula has been sentenced to 34 years to life in prison for child molestation, authorities with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced late last week.  Rodolfo Duran pled guilty in April to sodomy of a child 10 years old or younger, as well as forcible sodomy of a child under the age of 14, related to crimes against two separate victims. “Duran also admitted to the special allegations that the crimes involved great violence, he took advantage of a position of trust, and the victims were vulnerable,” a DA’s Office news release stated. When one of the victims reported the crimes to her Santa Paula schoolteacher in 2018, detectives quickly identified a second victim and learned that Duran had been assaulting the victims for years.  “While being interviewed by detectives from the Santa Paula Police Department, Duran confessed to the allegations,” the release noted.  Deputy District Attorney Benjamin Moreno, a member of the DA’s...
