After the Bruins’ greatest team of all time got a chance to raise the banner on the two Stanley Cups that were won in 1970 and ’72, the current day B’s put on a performance that could make a Black and Gold dreamer believe that maybe, just maybe, they could raise one of their own.The B’s improved their league-best record to 13-1-2 with a 5-2 win over their ancient rival Montreal Canadiens on a night the club celebrated the Big, Bad Bruins era.A week ago, the rebuilding Habs were the better team on Bell Centre ice and took a 3-2 overtime win, but they were no match for the B’s on Saturday. ATHERTON – Time was running out Saturday on Christopher’s season. On a muddy field that brought back images of football’s glorious past, their gold numbers barely visible on dirt-stained white jerseys, the visitors from Gilroy trailed Menlo School by 17 points with less than five minutes to play in the third quarter. The Cougars were about to give the ball back to Menlo, too, facing third-and-17 from their own 21 after the home team accepted a penalty rather than give Christopher a more manageable fourth down.Jaxen Robinson, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Christopher quarterback, dropped back to pass and threw deep to speedy receiver Amari Bluford, the playmaker who ignited the Cougars’ late rally in the first round of the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs last week against Archbishop Mitty with a 95-yard kickoff return for a TD.This time, Bluford caught Robinson’s pass for a 79-yard touchdown that set the stage for a stunning comeback that ended with eighth-seeded Christopher...

The storm that power-washed the Bay Area with torrential rain Friday and Saturday was an impressive reminder that winter is here. But as abruptly as it swept in it is roaring away, leaving the region with a pleasant — if slightly breezy – start to the week.“For the early part of the week, we’ll be influenced by an area of high pressure building across the region that will bring really nice weather — really docile weather compared to what we went through the last couple days,” said Brian Garcia, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in the Bay Area. “Expect generally clear skies, with warm daytime highs and modest overnight lows.”This high-pressure system is expected to continue into the holiday weekend.
